Chateau Thibeaud-Maillet 2020 / Pomerol
Red 14% ABV ABV Thibeaud-MailletBirthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and wow, glad I did. Really rich dark fruit, proper smooth tannins, and a finish that just kept going. At nearly sixty quid it's not an everyday bottle but for a special occasion it's spot on.
This finish though
Not gonna lie, I sat there for a good ten seconds after each sip just enjoying the aftertaste. Smooth as anything with loads of dark berry flavour. 14% ABV sneaks up on you too — had to remind myself to eat something.
Good but not sure it's worth £58
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's decent — nice dark fruit, smooth finish, no complaints on the taste. But at this price point I've had bottles that impressed me more. Would maybe buy again on offer.
Dinner party winner
Opened this for a dinner party with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was a great match. Really aromatic when you pour it, and it opened up loads over the evening. Friends kept asking where I got it.
Great weekend red
My partner and I split this on a Saturday night with some cheese and charcuterie. It's got proper depth to it, layers of dark fruit that keep coming, and it's really smooth. We're not experts but we both agreed this was a cut above our usual picks.
Nice enough, bit pricey
Picked this up after seeing it on a restaurant menu and wanted to try it at home. It's a well-made wine for sure, balanced and clean, but I kept thinking I could get two really good bottles for the same money. The fruit is lovely though, I'll give it that.
Solid Pomerol without the crazy price
I've been slowly working my way through right bank Bordeaux and this punches well for the money. Dark fruit is front and centre, nicely concentrated but not jammy. The acidity keeps it fresh enough that I polished off half the bottle before the steak was even ready.
