Natasha Volkov VIPsAllowed - Birthday treat that delivered
8/10

My wife got me this for my birthday and wow, really surprised by how complex it is for the money. There's a lot going on but it all works together somehow. The finish just keeps going in a really satisfying way. At 14% it's got some punch too — two glasses and I was feeling very content on the sofa.

Grace Kim VIPsAllowed - Proper bargain for Haut Medoc

Grabbed this on a whim from Majestic and honestly really impressed. Loads of dark fruit on the nose, and it's got this lovely balance where nothing overpowers anything else. At £27 for a 2020 Haut Medoc with 14% ABV, I think it's genuinely good value. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was spot on.

Mei-Lin Wu VIPsAllowed - Good but maybe a touch pricey

Bought this for a dinner party and it went down fine, everyone seemed to enjoy it. Smells great right when you open it, proper fruity. My issue is £27 feels a bit steep — I've had similar quality Bordeaux for less. Not bad by any means, just not sure it justifies the price tag.

The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something French but not boring. It's nicely put together — fruity but not jammy, and the tannins aren't too harsh. Finish is clean which I liked. Not the most exciting bottle I've ever had but I'd happily buy it again.
