Chateau la Borie Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2024: A Red of Genuine Distinction
Red 12.5% ABV ABV La BorieNice enough but expected more
The guy at the wine shop recommended this and talked it up quite a bit. It's decent — got some nice blackcurrant and a sort of earthy thing going on — but for twenty quid I was hoping for something a bit more exciting. Would probably grab something else at that price point next time.
Solid Rhone red
Had this with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was a great match. Quite structured with firm tannins but nothing harsh. The cedar and spice notes are really nice. Good honest wine, not trying to be anything it's not.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up for a dinner party and it went down a treat. Lovely dark cherry flavour with a bit of spice that really came out after it had been open for a while. At £20 it's not cheap for a weeknight bottle but for a special occasion it's well worth it.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as part of a birthday spread and it was one of the highlights honestly. Big dark fruit flavours, cherry and blackcurrant mostly, and a finish that just keeps going. Smooth for a red with this much grip. Would definitely buy again.
