Chateau du Champ des Treilles Vin de France Rouge 2022
Red 14% ABV ABV Du Champ des TreillesNice find from France
Saw this listed as a Vin de France which I've learned means they do their own thing outside the usual appellation rules, and honestly it works. Fresh, fruity, well balanced. Had it with lamb chops and it was a great match. Not life-changing but I'd happily drink it again.
Really surprised by this one
Picked this up from my local wine shop on the guy's recommendation and really glad I did. It's got lovely fruit that just keeps opening up the longer it sits in your glass — I actually liked it way more after about half an hour. Great with a slow-cooked beef stew on a Sunday.
Solid red, fair price
Bought a couple of bottles for a dinner party and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Nice fruity nose, not too heavy despite being 14%, and it's got a clean finish that doesn't hang around too long. At £24 it's a decent shout for when you want something a step up from the usual supermarket stuff.
Good but not amazing
It's perfectly fine — nice enough fruit, decent structure, clean finish. But for nearly £24 I was hoping for a bit more wow factor. I'd probably reach for something else at that price point unless it was on offer.
Don't sleep on this
Ok so I don't usually leave reviews but this wine genuinely impressed me. The fruit is so clean and pure, and the acidity keeps everything really fresh even at 14%. Poured a glass, thought it was nice. Came back to it 30 mins later and it had completely transformed. One of the best sub-£25 reds I've had this year.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday and it was a proper treat. Really expressive and honest-tasting, none of that heavy oaky stuff I usually don't like. Let it breathe for a bit and it just gets better and better. Would absolutely buy again.
