Chateau De Plaisance Anjou Ronceray 2022: Dark Fruit Elegance
Red 13% ABV ABV Chateau De PlaisanceSolid red, bit steep though
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's nice, don't get me wrong. Big and fruity with some spice and herby notes. But £37.50 is a lot and I'm not sure it does enough more than wines at the £20-25 mark to justify it.
Perfect cold weather wine
This is exactly what I want to drink on a dark evening in front of the fire. Got chocolate and plum vibes, smooth tannins, and that black pepper on the finish is gorgeous. Treat yourself.
Good not great
Had this at a friend's place. It's a decent heavy red — lots of dark berry flavour and quite dry. Personally I found it a bit too intense for my taste, I usually go for something lighter. Not bad though, just not really my thing.
Absolute stunner from Anjou
I've been getting more into Loire reds lately and this Chateau De Plaisance is probably my favourite so far. The dark fruit is so concentrated and the finish just goes on and on. Dry, peppery, zero sweetness. Loved every glass of it.
Really impressed with this one
Bought this for a dinner party and it was a massive hit. Really rich dark fruit — plum and blackberry mostly — with this lovely peppery kick at the end. Went perfectly with the beef stew I made. Would definitely buy again.
Nice birthday treat
My partner got me this for my birthday. Really enjoyed it with a lamb roast — the herbs and spice in the wine matched the food brilliantly. Full bodied and satisfying. Not something I'd buy every week at that price but a lovely bottle for a special occasion.
