Chartogne-Taillet Sainte Anne Champagne / Brut
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Chartogne-TailletDecent, expected a bit more
Tried this at a restaurant and thought it was solid but maybe slightly overhyped. The acidity is nice and it's clean and fresh, but I wasn't blown away for what it costs. My partner loved it though so maybe it's just me. Would pair it with lighter food — we had it with some seafood starters and that worked well.
Goes down dangerously easy
Picked this up for New Year's Eve and it was the star of the night. Really expressive on the nose — you can tell it's a cut above supermarket champagne straight away. Dry, zippy, and the finish just keeps going. Dangerous because you don't want to stop drinking it.
This is what champagne should taste like
I'm not a massive wine person but I know what I like, and this is lovely. It's got proper depth to it, not just bubbles and sugar like the stuff I usually grab. Saw it recommended online and took a punt. Really glad I did — it's become my go-to for when I want to treat myself.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's birthday after the guy at our local wine shop wouldn't stop raving about Chartogne-Taillet. He was right — it's properly good champagne. Really crisp acidity, clean fruit, and the bubbles are fine and persistent. At £51.50 it's not cheap but it felt special enough for the occasion.
Nice but a stretch at this price
Look, it's a good champagne. Clean, bright, decent complexity. But £51.50 is a lot when there are solid options for £30-35. I'd have it again if someone else was buying but probably wouldn't reach for it myself when there's cheaper fizz that gets the job done.
Solid champagne, would buy again
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately asked where they got it. It's well balanced — not too sweet, not too austere. The finish lingers in a really pleasant way that had me topping up my glass more than I should have. Good stuff for the price range.
