Charles Heidsieck Millesime 2012 Champagne / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Charles HeidsieckGreat Champagne, need a crowd to share it with
Treated myself to this for New Year's and it was the star of the evening. Really clean and precise with a finish that keeps you coming back for more. My only advice is make sure you've got enough people around — a magnum is a LOT of Champagne and this deserves to be drunk fresh, not left in the fridge overnight.
Best Champagne I've ever had
My wife got me this as a birthday present and wow. I'm no expert but this is on another level compared to the usual stuff we drink. Really complex — you get different things every sip, and each glass tasted slightly different as it opened up. The finish just goes on and on. Already looking at getting another bottle.
Impressive but big commitment
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and the sommelier talked us into the magnum for our table of six. Really glad we went for it — beautifully balanced with crisp acidity and loads of depth. Only gripe is that at this price point I'd want to drink it slowly and savour it, but magnums kind of force you into a party pace.
Lovely but a bit pricey for what it is
Got this for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone. It's smooth, layered, and definitely a step up from non-vintage stuff. But £261 is a lot of money and honestly I've had Champagnes at half the price that I enjoyed just as much. Good, not life-changing.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought the magnum for our 10th anniversary dinner and it was absolutely perfect. The bubbles are so fine and elegant, and it just kept revealing new flavours the longer it sat in the glass. At £261 it's not cheap but for a magnum of proper vintage Champagne it's actually reasonable. We finished the whole thing between four of us and nobody wanted it to end.
Seriously good stuff
Picked this up after reading about it online and I'm glad I did. There's a real confidence to this wine — it just smells amazing the second you pour it. Loads of layers and the acidity gives it a lovely drive without being sharp. The magnum seems to keep it all a bit more composed somehow. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink too.
Charles Heidsieck doesn't get enough love
I've been banging on about Charles Heidsieck for years and this 2012 vintage proves my point. So expressive on the nose straight away, none of that waiting around for it to open up. The precision of the fruit is spot on and the acidity keeps everything fresh and lively. If this was Krug everyone would lose their minds over it.
Perfect dinner party Champagne
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special for a big gathering. The magnum format is brilliant — it looks impressive on the table and there's enough to go round. Clean finish, really well made, and the 2012 vintage has clearly aged nicely. Would buy again for the right occasion.
