Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie / Cellared 2017
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Charles HeidsieckImpressive but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a tasting event and it's genuinely excellent champagne. Really precise acidity, lovely evolved fruit character, long clean finish. But £525 is a LOT of money and I've had bottles at half the price that got me nearly as excited. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but I'm glad I tried it.
Charles Heidsieck nailed it
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from regular vintage champagne. He wasn't kidding. It's got proper weight and complexity but stays really fresh and clean. Goes brilliantly with good cheese if you're wondering. Not cheap obviously but it's a serious bottle for serious occasions.
Best champagne I've ever had
My father-in-law brought this to Christmas dinner and I'm still thinking about it three months later. It's got this incredible depth to it, almost creamy but still really fresh and zippy. I don't usually rate things 10 but I genuinely can't find a fault with it.
Lovely but I expected more at this price
Got this as a birthday present from my partner who clearly loves me very much. It's a really, really good champagne — layers of flavour, great acidity, not heavy at all despite the richness. I just feel like for five hundred quid I wanted to be completely blown away and I was only mostly blown away. Still a treat though.
The real deal
Saw Champagne Charlie on a restaurant wine list and decided to treat myself. You can tell this has had serious time in the cellar — it's nothing like your typical fizz. Rich and generous on the nose, beautifully balanced, and the finish lingers for ages. 12.5% ABV but it drinks like something much more substantial.
Opened this for our engagement
We'd been saving a bottle for something special and popping this when she said yes felt right. It's so expressive and generous, like it just opens up in the glass the longer you sit with it. Neither of us are wine experts but we both kept saying how different it tasted from normal champagne. Absolutely unforgettable.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th wedding anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. So complex and layered — every sip revealed something new. The bubbles are fine and elegant and the finish just goes on and on. At £525 it's obviously not an everyday drink but for a milestone occasion it was perfect.
