Charles Heidsieck BdB 'Where Chefs Picnic' Hamper
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Charles HeidsieckPicnic champagne done right
Took this to an actual picnic (seemed fitting given the name!) and it was perfect. Light enough at 12.5% that you're not falling asleep on the blanket but complex enough to actually be interesting. The finish just hangs around in the best way. We paired it with cheese and charcuterie and it worked brilliantly.
Lovely but that price tag stings
Look, the champagne is excellent — bright acidity, layers of flavour that keep revealing themselves. Really well made stuff. But £225 for a hamper is a lot of money and I'm not sure the extras justify the premium over just buying the bottle. Would I buy it again? Probably not at that price.
Perfect dinner party flex
Brought this to a dinner party and everyone was impressed before we even opened it. The champagne is seriously good — complex but not heavy at all, really composed and smooth. It's one of those bottles where you keep going back for another sip without thinking about it.
Good but maybe overhyped?
Had this at a friend's place and went in expecting fireworks given the price. It's definitely nice — clean, balanced, good acidity. But at £225 for the hamper I think you could find equally enjoyable champagne for less. Solid 7 from me, not quite the wow factor I was hoping for.
Absolutely stunning Blanc de Blancs
I've been slowly working my way through different champagne houses and Charles Heidsieck keeps impressing me. This BdB is incredibly precise — pure Chardonnay with real clarity. The acidity is spot on and it has this depth that unfolds the more you sit with it. The hamper presentation is a lovely touch too.
Best champagne I've had in ages
My mate works in wine and told me to try Charles Heidsieck ages ago. Finally splashed out on this hamper for Christmas and wow. The Blanc de Blancs is just so pure and elegant, proper Chardonnay character coming through. It lingers beautifully too, every sip just keeps going.
Really nice champagne, great gift idea
Got this as a birthday present and felt very spoiled. The champagne is crisp and fresh with a lovely long finish. I don't know loads about wine but I could tell this was quality. Only thing is I probably wouldn't buy it for myself at that price point.
Worth every penny for a special occasion
Bought this hamper for my wife's 40th and it was a massive hit. The champagne itself is gorgeous — really crisp and clean with proper depth to it. Not your average fizz by a long shot. The whole package felt really luxurious without being try-hard.
