Chapel Down Kit's Coty Coeur De Cuvee 2016
Red 14% ABV ABV Chapel DownWorth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow, it really delivered. Super smooth, no harsh alcohol burn even at 14%, and the flavours just kept coming the longer it sat in the glass. At £120 it's not an everyday wine but for a celebration? Absolutely worth it.
Impressive English red
Had this at a tasting event and was genuinely surprised it's from Chapel Down. Really well balanced, loads of fruit but not jammy, and the finish hangs around nicely. Knocked a point off because I think £120 is a bit steep, but the quality is clearly there.
Bit pricey but genuinely good
Got this as a birthday present and wouldn't have spent £120 myself honestly. That said, it's really lovely — beautifully balanced and the finish goes on forever. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was a perfect match. Just wish it was more like £80.
Good but I expected more at this price
Nice wine, don't get me wrong. Clean, well made, decent body to it. But for £120 I've had French and Spanish reds that blew me away more. It's cool that Chapel Down can make something this solid though, just not sure I'd buy it again at full price.
Best English wine I've ever had
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and I'm so glad he did. Everything about it just works — the fruit is precise and clean, there's real depth to it, and it somehow feels both rich and elegant at the same time. Already ordered another bottle.
Proper grown-up wine
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and thought why not. So glad I tried it. It's complex without being hard work — you notice new things with every sip. Felt like a treat and the 2016 vintage has clearly had time to come together nicely.
