Chapel Down Chardonnay 2023
White 12% ABV ABV Chapel DownNice but not quite there for me
Bit pricey for what it is if I'm honest. It's pleasant enough — clean and fresh with some apple-y notes — but for £15.50 I've had French Chardonnays that give you more. That said the low ABV is nice, didn't feel heavy at all after a couple of glasses.
Solid choice for the price
Had this at a friend's dinner party and liked it enough to grab a bottle myself. It's light and easy to drink but there's enough going on to keep it interesting. Good with chicken or fish, nothing fancy needed.
My new go-to for summer
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something crisp for a barbecue and he was spot on. Really bright and fresh, properly refreshing cold on a warm day. There's a bit more depth to it than I expected too, it sort of opens up as you sit with it. Already bought another bottle.
Really impressed for English white
Picked this up at a local wine shop on a whim and honestly wasn't expecting much from an English Chardonnay. Really fresh and crisp though, proper orchard fruit vibes without being boring. At £15.50 it's not the cheapest midweek bottle but I'd happily buy it again for a nice Friday dinner.
