Chapel Down Brut NV English Sparkling Wine
Sparkling 12.5% ABV ABV Chapel DownGood but a bit pricey
It's a perfectly nice sparkling wine, clean and refreshing with decent fruit. But for nearly £30 I think I expected a bit more wow factor? I've had Crémants at half the price that I've enjoyed just as much. Would drink it again if someone else was buying though.
Nice enough, not blown away
I keep seeing Chapel Down everywhere so finally gave it a go. It's fine — pleasant and easy to drink, good bubbles. But I didn't get the complexity that everyone raves about. Maybe I'm just more of a Champagne person. For £30 I'd probably reach for a decent Champagne on offer instead.
Our new go-to for celebrations
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately tracked down a bottle for myself. There's a really nice balance between the crisp acidity and the fruitiness, and it doesn't go flat in the glass like cheaper stuff does. We've now bought a case for Christmas.
Really impressed with this
Bought this for my wife's birthday dinner and we both loved it. Really fine bubbles and it's got this lovely freshness to it that kept us going back for more. Honestly didn't know English sparkling could be this good — we polished off the bottle before the main course even arrived.
Solid everyday fizz
The guy at our local wine shop recommended this as a step up from prosecco and he wasn't wrong. It's definitely got more depth and the bubbles are way finer. At £30 it's not an everyday buy for me but it's nice to have one in the fridge for when friends come round.
Proper English bubbly
Picked this up at Chapel Down's shop when we were doing a day trip to Kent. It's well made — clean finish, lively bubbles, nothing too heavy or sweet. Works great as an aperitif. At 12.5% it's easy drinking too, which is dangerous on a sunny afternoon.
