Champagne Vouette et Sorbee Blanc d'Argile 2020: Bubbles with Real Depth
Champagne 12% ABV ABV Vouette et SorbeeStole the show at our dinner party
Opened this alongside two other champagnes for a dinner party and everyone kept going back to the Blanc d'Argile. There's a hazelnut, savoury quality to it that's different from most fizz. The finish goes on forever too. Already ordered another bottle.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and wow, glad I did. The bubbles are super fine and it's got this lovely toasty, almondy thing going on that made it feel really special. Honestly one of the best champagnes I've had — rich but not heavy at all.
Not what I expected (in a good way)
I usually go for prosecco so this was a big step up for me. It's way more complex than what I'm used to — kind of honeyed and toasty with an almost biscuity taste? Dry finish that sticks around. Felt very fancy drinking it on a Friday night with some cheese.
Really good but hard to justify the price
Look, this is a lovely champagne. Brioche notes, nice citrus freshness, beautiful fine bubbles. But £99 is a lot and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £50 bottle. I'd have it again if someone else was buying.
Proper grown-up champagne
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from the usual. It's got real depth to it — baked apple, a bit of honey, nutty flavours. Not your standard fizz by any stretch. At nearly a hundred quid it's not an everyday thing but it's genuinely impressive.
