Champagne Telmont Reserve de la Terre
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV TelmontNice but steep price tag
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was genuinely lovely — clean, well balanced, not too sweet. But when I looked up the price afterwards... nearly £70 is a lot when there are solid champagnes around the £40 mark. Would I buy it myself? Probably not regularly, but I'd happily drink someone else's bottle again.
The wine shop guy was right
Went in looking for a champagne for our anniversary and the guy behind the counter recommended the Telmont Reserve de la Terre. So glad he did. It's properly complex without being pretentious — the fruit and acidity are really well balanced and it opens up beautifully after a few minutes in the glass. Felt like a proper treat.
Finally a champagne that doesn't hide behind sugar
I've been getting into champagne this year and a lot of the mainstream ones taste overly sweet to me. This one is honest — you can actually taste what's going on rather than just getting hit with dosage. Clean finish that makes you want another sip. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink too.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and we were both blown away. Really elegant bubbles with proper depth to it — not just fizzy wine like some cheaper champagnes. The finish just lingers in the best way, kept going back for more. At seventy quid it's not an everyday thing but for a special occasion it's absolutely worth it.
