Champagne Telmont Blanc de Blancs 2015: Refined Effervescence
Champagne 12% ABV ABV TelmontBirthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my 40th and wow, it was special. Really elegant stuff — you get this lovely toasty almond thing going on with a fresh lemony finish that just keeps going. At £156 it's not an everyday bottle obviously, but for a milestone birthday? Absolutely worth it.
Really nice, proper grown-up champagne
Tried this at a tasting event and bought a bottle to take home. It's a blanc de blancs so all Chardonnay grapes which gives it that lean, mineral quality. Loved the toasted almond notes and the citrus blossom on the nose. It's refined without being boring — went brilliantly with some smoked salmon starters we had.
Gorgeous but pricey
Had this at a friend's wedding and tracked a bottle down afterwards. The bubbles are super fine and it smells amazing — like fresh pastry and flowers. Tastes clean and crisp with a chalky dryness I really liked. Only knocking a point off because £156 is a LOT and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £75 champagne.
Best champagne I've ever had
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something properly special for our anniversary dinner. I don't know much about champagne beyond knowing what I like, but this was on another level. Brioche and lemon curd flavours, incredibly smooth, and the finish goes on forever. We sat there just savouring it.
Good but didn't blow me away
Maybe my expectations were too high given the price tag, but while this is definitely a solid champagne, I've had bottles at half the cost that excited me more. The finish is lovely and dry with that almond character, and the bubbles are beautiful. It's just a bit too subtle for me — I tend to prefer champagnes with a bit more punch.
