First Impressions

Champagne Telmont Blanc de Blancs 2013 sustainably sourced arrives at £155.00, and at this price point, expectations are rightly elevated. 75cl / 12% - A fruity, nutty 2013-vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne from Telmont that was made exclusively with Chardonnay grapes and disgorged in 2022. Aromas of sun-ripened.

France's winemaking heritage needs no introduction, but the best producers continue to find new ways to express their terroir while honouring centuries of tradition. Telmont is a name worth knowing in this context.

The nose offers complex aromas of baked apple, biscuit, and candied citrus peel over a mineral backbone. Moving to the palate, the wine is rich and layered, offering baked apple, hazelnut, and a creamy mousse with a dry mineral core. The finish is extended finish of toasted hazelnut, green apple, and a fine saline note.

Food Pairing and Serving

Equally at home as an aperitif or alongside seafood, sushi, or delicate canapés. Serve at 8-10°C in proper flutes or, better yet, white wine glasses to appreciate the full bouquet.

Daniel Torres VIPsAllowed - Nice but didn't blow me away
5/10

I'm relatively new to champagne beyond the usual suspects so maybe I'm missing something. It's smooth, the bubbles are tiny and creamy, and there's a kind of nutty baked apple thing going on. Pleasant to drink but at £155 I was expecting fireworks and it felt more like a nice sparkler to me.

Devon Marsh VIPsAllowed - Good but not £155 good
5/10

Got this as a birthday present and it's perfectly nice champagne. Biscuity smell, decent weight to it, hazelnut on the finish. But honestly for that price I expected something that would blow my socks off and it didn't quite get there. I've had £60 bottles that excited me more.

Sophia Laurent VIPsAllowed - Lovely bottle for New Year's
7/10

Opened this for New Year's Eve and it was a real crowd pleaser. The baked apple thing is real — you get it straight away on the nose. Creamy bubbles and a nice nutty finish that hangs around. Pricey at £155 but it felt special enough for the occasion.

Saw Telmont on a restaurant menu and figured I'd splash out. The apple and biscuit on the nose pulled me right in. What I liked most was that mineral dryness running through it — stops it being too sweet or rich. The finish goes on forever. Proper champagne this.

Daniel Oyama VIPsAllowed - Brought this to a dinner party
6/10

Picked this up for a friend's 40th because the sustainability angle appealed to me and I wanted something a bit different. Everyone enjoyed it — the hazelnut and green apple combo at the end is really moreish. Not sure it justifies the price tag over something like Ruinart but it's a quality bottle.

Yuki Nakamura VIPsAllowed - One of the best I've had this year
8/10

I keep coming back to Telmont and this blanc de blancs is their best work imo. That baked apple nose is gorgeous, and on the palate it's got this saline mineral thing that keeps you reaching for another sip. The finish just doesn't quit. Yes it's £155 but for a 2013 vintage champagne of this quality I think it's fair enough.

Hannah Brooks VIPsAllowed - Solid blanc de blancs
6/10

The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted a 100% Chardonnay champagne for a dinner party. It's rich and full without being heavy, and the toasty hazelnut flavour is genuinely lovely. Would I buy it again at full price? Probably not, but I'm glad I tried it.
