Champagne Guy de Forez Les Riceys Brut Reserve NV
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Guy de ForezSolid choice for a dinner party
Served this as a welcome drink at a dinner party. It went down well — a couple of friends who know their wine were impressed. I thought it was good, definitely complex and interesting, but I'm not sure I'd splash out £41 regularly when there's decent crémant for half the price.
New Year's Eve winner
Picked up two bottles for NYE on a recommendation from a friend and honestly couldn't have been happier. It's got this lovely balance where it's rich enough to feel special but fresh enough that you just keep going back for more. Already ordered more for next time.
Surprised how much I liked this
Not usually a champagne person — I find a lot of them taste the same. This one actually had something to it. Opens up loads after a few minutes in the glass and the finish is really clean. Had it with some nibbles before dinner and it was perfect.
Proper champagne, not just bubbles
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from prosecco for our anniversary. He wasn't wrong — there's loads going on, fruity but with a crisp finish that keeps you sipping. Felt like a grown-up drink without being stuffy.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and it was a hit. Really aromatic when you pour it — not just generic fizz smell, proper depth to it. Everyone kept commenting on how good it was. At £41 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it's well worth it.
Nice but bit steep
Good champagne, don't get me wrong. Fresh and layered with nice acidity. But at over £40 a bottle I think there are champagnes I've had at £30 that come close. Would happily drink it again if someone else was buying though.
