Champagne Guenin Liliale Blanc de Blanc
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV GueninSolid blanc de blanc
The wine shop guy steered me towards this when I said I wanted something a bit more interesting than Moët. He was right — there's a chalky, mineral thing going on that I really liked, and the acidity keeps it fresh rather than heavy. Would buy again for sure.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really crisp and citrusy with tiny bubbles that just keep going. At £49 it's not cheap but it felt genuinely special — everyone kept asking what it was.
Decent, expected a bit more wow factor
Saw this recommended online and gave it a go. It's well made — nice bubbles, balanced, and the finish is clean. Just didn't blow me away for the price. My partner loved it though so maybe it's a taste thing. Would still take it over most supermarket champagnes.
Nice but bit pricey for what it is
It's good champagne, don't get me wrong. Clean, citrusy, fine bubbles. But at nearly fifty quid I've had bottles at £35 that I enjoyed just as much. If it was closer to £40 I'd rate it higher.
This is what champagne should taste like
I'm no expert but I've been getting more into champagne lately and this Guenin is probably my favourite so far. The citrus notes hit you straight away and there's this mineral quality that makes it taste really clean and precise. 12.5% as well so you can have a couple of glasses without it going to your head.
Perfect for our anniversary dinner
Picked this up for a dinner party and it went down really well with the starters. Light and refreshing but there's proper depth there too — not just fizzy wine if you know what I mean. The finish lingers in a really pleasant way that had me topping up my glass constantly.
