Champagne Deutz Brut 2016
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV DeutzProper champagne
Had this at a restaurant and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle. It's well-structured with layers of fruit that kind of reveal themselves gradually — not in a pretentious way, it's just genuinely interesting to drink. The 2016 vintage seems to be a good one.
Good but bit steep
Nice champagne, no doubt about it. Clean finish and lovely bright acidity that keeps you going back for more. But at nearly 70 quid I'd want it to blow my socks off, and it didn't quite get there for me. Plenty of cheaper options that come close.
Solid choice, nothing wrong with it
Saw this recommended online and gave it a go. It's good — clean, well-made, nice fruit with a crisp acidity. Perfectly enjoyable champagne. I'm just not sure it stands out enough from bottles at the £45-50 mark to justify the price jump. That said, I'd happily drink it again if someone else was buying.
Classy stuff for a dinner party
Picked this up for a dinner party after the guy in the wine shop recommended it. Everyone commented on how good it was. There's a real depth to it that unfolds as you drink — not one of those champagnes that's all fizz and no flavour. Would buy again for special occasions.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and it was absolutely gorgeous. Really expressive on the nose straight away, and the bubbles are so fine and elegant. At £68 it's not cheap but for a milestone birthday? Worth every penny.
New Year's Eve winner
We opened this on NYE and honestly it was the highlight of the night. So precise and balanced, with enough going on to keep you interested but also just really easy to enjoy. My wife said it was the best champagne she's ever had, and she's not easily impressed.
