Champagne Bonnet Gilmert La Reserve Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Oger NV
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Bonnet GilmertNice but maybe not £52 nice
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was good — clean, precise, pleasant finish. But honestly at this price point I'd probably just grab a Pol Roger or similar. It's a bit pricey for what it is unless you're really into the small producer thing.
Blanc de blancs done right
This is everything I want from a Grand Cru blanc de blancs. Expressive on the nose straight away, and the palate has genuine complexity that unfolds the longer you sit with it. Served it at our anniversary dinner and even my wife who usually just wants prosecco was impressed.
Solid grower Champagne
Been getting into grower Champagnes lately and the wine shop pointed me towards this Bonnet Gilmert. Really crisp acidity, keeps everything lively and fresh. At around £52 it's not cheap but it's genuinely complex stuff — definitely a step up from the big house NVs at the same price.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and wow, glad I did. Really elegant bubbles with proper depth to it — not just fizzy wine like some cheaper ones. You can tell there's something going on underneath, layers of flavour that kept me coming back for another sip. Worth the splurge for a special occasion.
Great with seafood
Opened this with some oysters last weekend and it was a brilliant match. Really bright and focused, with a taut structure that cuts right through. The finish is lovely too, just lingers enough without being heavy. Would definitely buy again.
Decent champers
Picked this up from an online deal and it's pretty good. Nice and clean tasting, good bubbles, goes down easy. I don't know enough about wine to say much more than that honestly — but everyone at the BBQ enjoyed it and the bottle looks fancy which is a bonus at 12.5% ABV.
