Champagne Alexis La Terre Mere NV
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV AlexisBirthday treat that delivered
Got this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really elegant stuff — not too heavy, lovely bubbles, and it just kept pulling me back for another glass. The finish is so clean and lingering. Worth every penny of the £51.
Decent champers, nothing wild
Had this at a restaurant and thought it was pretty good so tracked a bottle down. It's well made and the fruit and acidity are nicely balanced but I was hoping it'd blow me away a bit more at home. Still enjoyable though and the nose is genuinely interesting — keeps you sniffing before you sip.
Nice but bit steep
It's good champagne, don't get me wrong. Smells lovely and the balance is there. But at over fifty quid I think you can find similar quality for less. I'd maybe save it for a special occasion rather than a regular buy.
This one surprised me
Wasn't expecting much from a producer I'd never heard of but wow. Really composed and precise — nothing showy but everything just works together. Had it with some seafood pasta and it was perfect. The way the finish just gently fades out is class.
Great for a dinner party
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and everyone commented on it. It's restrained and classy without being boring. At 12.5% you can have a few glasses without feeling rough the next day too which is always a bonus.
Solid champagne, proper depth to it
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. He wasn't wrong — there's a real complexity here that you don't always get at this price point. The acidity is spot on and it doesn't feel overripe at all. Would happily buy again.
