Cesar Florido Moscatel Dorado / Half Bottle
Dessert 14% ABV ABV Cesar FloridoLovely little dessert wine
Picked this up on a whim from the half bottle shelf and really glad I did. Loads of dried apricot and honey on the nose, and it tastes like candied orange peel in the best way. Not too sweet or heavy either, which is my usual complaint with dessert wines. Great value at £11.50 for a half bottle.
Good sherry-style sipper
Bought this for after dinner when we had friends round and it went down well. Really rich amber colour and you get that caramel-honey thing straight away. It's lighter than you'd think at 14% which meant we finished the half bottle pretty quickly between four of us. Would buy again but maybe grab two next time.
Decent but I prefer something sweeter
Had this at a tapas place last year and ordered a bottle to try at home. It's got an interesting nutty, waxy quality and the orange peel flavour is nice. Just personally I like my dessert wines a bit sweeter and richer — this felt more dry than I expected. Not bad though, just not really my style.
Nice but not blowing my mind
It's fine? Tastes like raisins and nuts with some citrus going on. I was expecting more for a Moscatel honestly. My partner liked it more than I did — she had it with some blue cheese and said it was perfect together.
Punches above its price
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something sweet but not sickly for under £15. He was spot on. There's a nice dried fig and marmalade thing going on and it doesn't feel cheap at all. Genuinely impressed for £11.50.
