Cerdon du Bugey Methode Ancestrale Balivet
Red 14% ABV ABV BalivetSolid weekend wine
Had this with a lamb stew on Saturday night and it worked really well. Good balance, interesting flavours that kept me going back for more. Not the cheapest at £24 but you can taste where the money goes.
Nice but bit steep
It's a pleasant wine, don't get me wrong. Clean finish, decent complexity. But nearly £24 feels a touch high — I've had similar quality French reds for less. Would wait for a sale.
Don't rush this one
First glass I thought it was just okay. Left it for twenty minutes and it completely changed — way more depth and complexity came through. The acidity and fruit are really well balanced. This is one where patience pays off, trust me.
Good dinner party bottle
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and everyone commented on it. It's got a really distinctive nose — you notice it straight away. Went great with the beef we had. Not an everyday buy at that price but solid for occasions.
Expected more honestly
Saw this on a menu and thought I'd grab a bottle to try at home. It's fine, perfectly drinkable, but for what you're paying I wanted a bit more wow factor. The finish is nice and clean but it didn't blow me away. Maybe I caught a dull bottle.
Really nice find
Picked this up from a local wine shop after the guy behind the counter recommended it. Really expressive on the nose, loads of character. At 14% it's got some weight to it but doesn't feel boozy at all. Would definitely buy again.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present and I'm glad I let it breathe for a bit because it really opened up. The longer it sat in the glass the more interesting it got. Confident, well-structured, proper grown-up wine.
