Carlos Raposo Definido Tinto 2019
Red 14% ABV ABV Carlos RaposoDecent, not sure about the price tag
It's a good wine, don't get me wrong. Nicely balanced, confident flavours, pleasant finish. But I kept thinking I'd want a bit more wow factor for what you're paying. Maybe I need to try it again with food rather than just on its own.
Solid Portuguese red
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and he didn't steer me wrong. Really expressive on the nose, you can smell it as soon as you pour. Good structure, nice acidity, and it doesn't feel heavy despite being 14%. Would buy again.
Nice but a bit steep
Genuinely enjoyable wine — well balanced fruit with a clean finish that keeps you going back for more. My only gripe is the price. Nearly £60 is a lot and I've had comparable reds for less. That said, it's clearly well made.
Really impressed with this one
Bought this for my wife's birthday dinner and we both loved it. Big bold red with loads going on — every sip felt like there was something new to notice. At sixty quid it's not an everyday bottle but for a special occasion it's spot on.
Great with a slow-cooked lamb
Had this with a lamb shoulder I'd been cooking all afternoon and it was a perfect match. Loads of fruit but not jammy, and there's a brightness to it that cuts through rich food. The finish is lovely too, just hangs around enough to make you want another glass.
One of my favourites this year
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and ordered it on a whim. So glad I did. It's got real depth and complexity without being one of those wines that feels like hard work to drink. Tracked down a bottle online afterwards because I couldn't stop thinking about it.
