Jason Steel VIPsAllowed - Smashed it with the cheese course

Opened this on New Year's Eve alongside some brie and crackers and it was a perfect match. Really creamy with tiny bubbles and a sort of nutty bready taste. My wife said it reminded her of something we had in Reims years ago which is high praise from her.

Had a glass of this at a French place in town and couldn't stop thinking about it. Found it online for about £59 which felt fair given what restaurants charge. The mousse is incredibly fine and that citrus blossom note is gorgeous. Premier Cru quality for sure.

Daisy Miller VIPsAllowed - Solid champagne, takes a minute to open up

First few sips I wasn't sure what the fuss was about, but after it warmed up a bit in the glass the brioche and toasted almond flavours really came through. Dry finish which I like. At 12.5% it's easy drinking too — maybe too easy.

Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was good, don't get me wrong. Lovely toasty flavour and nice dry finish. But I've had cremants at half the price that I've enjoyed just as much. If someone else is buying though, I wouldn't say no.

Bought this for my 40th and wow, glad I did. The bubbles are super fine and creamy, and there's this amazing toasty almond thing going on that just makes it feel really special. At £59 it's not cheap but for a birthday champagne? Totally worth it.

I'm not a massive wine nerd but even I could tell this was a cut above. There's a chalky mineral quality to it that keeps you coming back for more. The almond and citrus on the finish just linger beautifully. Already ordered another bottle for our anniversary.

The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from supermarket fizz. You can really taste the brioche and there's a lovely citrusy freshness to it too. Dangerous though — we finished the bottle way too quickly.
