Ca'di Ponti Grillo Sicily 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV Ca'di PontiFine but nothing special
It's okay. Clean and drinkable but I was expecting a bit more character for a Sicilian wine. Wouldn't turn it down if someone poured me a glass but I probably wouldn't buy it again when there's so much else at this price.
Bit overpriced honestly
It's nice enough but I've had better for less. At 14% it's quite punchy too which isn't always what I want on a warm evening. Second glass was better than the first though so maybe I need to give it another chance.
Solid weeknight wine
Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Really fresh and easy to drink but there's actually some depth there if you pay attention. At under £11 this is going in the regular rotation.
Don't sleep on this one
I keep coming back to this. There's something about Sicilian wines that just tastes like sunshine and this one nails it. Proper fruit, good structure, and at this price point I genuinely can't complain. Had to stop myself buying a case.
Nice with food
Had this with a pasta bake on a Tuesday night and it worked really well. Good acidity that cuts through heavier food. On its own it's a bit simple but as a dinner wine it does the job. Fair price too.
Great find for a dinner party
Bought three bottles for a dinner party and everyone commented on how nice it was. Lovely fruity nose, really inviting. One of my mates who knows his wine said it punches above its weight for £10.95 and I'd agree with that.
Decent Sicilian
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something Italian under £12. It's well balanced and the finish is clean — not one of those wines that just vanishes the second you swallow. Pretty good for the money, just not mind-blowing.
