Bruno Paillard Nec Plus Ultra Rose 2008 Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Bruno PaillardThe hazelnut finish though
Got recommended this by the guy at my local wine shop when I said I wanted something special for Christmas. The nose is all roses and brioche and then you get this long finish with hazelnuts and citrus that just won't quit. Properly impressive stuff and everyone at the table noticed it was a cut above the usual fizz.
Stunning but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a tasting event and it's genuinely lovely — really delicate red berry flavours with a peppery kick and a chalky mineral quality that makes it feel serious. But £274 is a LOT for champagne when there are great options at half the price. If someone else is buying, absolutely yes.
Anniversary splurge that delivered
Bought this for our 10th anniversary and wow, it was worth every penny. The strawberry and orange notes are gorgeous and it just keeps going — you finish a sip and the flavour hangs around for ages. At £274 it's not an everyday thing obviously, but for a special occasion champagne this is the real deal.
Best rosé champagne I've ever had
A friend opened this at her birthday dinner and I've been thinking about it since. There's this amazing nutty, toasty thing going on alongside the red fruit that I've never really tasted in a champagne before. Bone dry, super elegant, and that finish is ridiculous. I need to start saving up for my own bottle.
