Blanquette de Limoux Etienne Fort
Red 14% ABV ABV Etienne FortNice but a bit steep
It's a good wine, don't get me wrong, but nearly £24 feels like a lot when you can get something similar for less. The fruit is generous and it's well made, but I wasn't blown away enough to buy it again at that price. Would happily drink it if someone else was pouring though!
Proper French red, no messing about
The guy at the wine shop recommended this and he was spot on. Big flavours but everything's in balance — the fruit, the acidity, all of it just works together. Had a glass on its own first then finished the bottle with steak and chips. Would definitely get it again.
Really solid southern French red
Picked this up from my local wine shop on a whim and glad I did. Lovely rich fruit but not one of those heavy reds that knocks you out — there's a nice freshness to it that keeps you going back for more. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect.
Great dinner party bottle
Bought two of these for a dinner party and they went down really well. It's got that warm, confident thing going on without being too boozy even at 14%. A couple of friends asked me where I got it, so that's always a good sign.
