Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois 2008 / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Billecart-SalmonWorth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. The bubbles are so fine and elegant, and there's this amazing depth to it that just keeps going. At £335 it's not an everyday thing obviously, but for a proper occasion it's absolutely stunning.
This is what proper champagne tastes like
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and decided to go for it. I'm no expert but even I could tell this was on another level — everything just feels perfectly in place. The 2008 vintage clearly had some serious time to come together. Would I buy it again? If I win the lottery, absolutely.
Impressed but not blown away
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special for a dinner party. It's very refined and well put together, definitely a step up from regular champagne. Clean finish, nice acidity. I just expected a bit more wow factor at this price point if I'm honest.
Really good but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a wine bar and it's genuinely excellent — serious and focused, not your typical crowd-pleasing fizz. But £335 a bottle is a lot. I've had champagnes at half the price that got me nearly as excited. Still, the balance on this is something else.
Lovely but maybe not for me
Got given this as a gift and I appreciate it's high end stuff. It's very structured and serious — probably too serious for my taste honestly. I tend to prefer something a bit fruitier and more fun. That said the quality is obvious and at 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink for how posh it is.
Best champagne I've ever had
My father-in-law opened this at Christmas dinner and I'm still thinking about it months later. So balanced and complex — every sip you notice something different. The finish just hangs there quietly and makes you want more. I get why Billecart-Salmon has the reputation it does.
Birthday treat done right
Treated myself to a magnum for my 40th. The concentration and depth blew me away honestly, it's got this quiet confidence about it that's hard to describe. Not showy at all, just really really good. Went perfectly with the seafood starter and then we just kept drinking it through the night.
