Billecart-Salmon Brut Rose Champagne / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Billecart-SalmonAbsolute stunner with seafood
Had this with a big platter of oysters and prawns and it was incredible. There's something almost mineral about it that just works perfectly with shellfish. Light enough at 12.5% that you can keep drinking without falling over. The dried rose petal thing on the finish is so pretty.
Really nice but that price tag stings
Tried this at a restaurant and loved it so much I tracked down a magnum. The redcurrant and strawberry flavours are gorgeous and it's got this chalky dry thing that I really enjoy. But £160 is a lot of money and I'm not sure it's twice as good as an £80 bottle. Would buy again for a big occasion though.
The wine shop guy was right
Went in looking for something special for a dinner party and the guy behind the counter pushed me toward this. So glad he did. It's crisp and dry with subtle red fruit — nothing over the top. Everyone at the table commented on it. The magnum format is great for sharing too, felt very generous.
Good but not mindblowing
Maybe my expectations were too high given the hype around Billecart rosé. It's definitely elegant and well made — nice strawberry notes and a clean dry finish. But at this price point I was hoping to be completely wowed and I just thought it was solid. Would probably try other things next time.
Best rosé champagne I've had
My wife got this for my 40th and honestly I don't think I've had better pink fizz. It's not sweet or fruity like a lot of rosé champagnes — there's a real savoury depth to it that keeps you coming back for more. The finish goes on forever. Already planning to buy another one for Christmas.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought the magnum for our anniversary dinner and it was the star of the evening. Beautiful strawberry notes with this lovely bready thing going on underneath. At £160 for a magnum it's actually not bad value compared to buying two bottles. We demolished the whole thing and I regret nothing.
Finally tried it!
Kept seeing this recommended online and finally splashed out on a magnum for New Year's. It's really lovely — not what I expected from a rosé champagne at all. Much more restrained and serious than I thought it would be. The brioche notes reminded me of good sourdough toast somehow. Would love to try it again but my wallet needs to recover first.
