Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve Champagne: Elegance Worth Celebrating
Champagne 12% ABV ABV Billecart-SalmonSolid champagne, would buy again
The wine shop guy steered me toward this when I said I wanted something a step up from Moët. He wasn't wrong — it's got a lovely bready smell and the finish goes on forever. Good balance of fruit and dry minerally stuff. Definitely one I'll keep in mind for Christmas.
Nice but a bit pricey for what it is
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was good, not mindblowing. Pleasant enough with some peachy notes and fine bubbles. For £49 though I think you can find champagnes that punch harder. I'd probably go Pol Roger at this price.
New go-to for dinner parties
Saw this on a menu at a wine bar and liked it enough to track down a bottle. That chalky dry finish is really refreshing and stops it being too rich. At 12% it's not going to floor you either. Served it to some friends who know way more about wine than me and they were all impressed, so that's good enough for me.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and we were both blown away. Really creamy bubbles with this lovely baked apple thing going on. At nearly fifty quid it's not an everyday buy but for a special occasion it's absolutely worth it.
Decent champagne, expected more fizz
I'm not a massive champagne person but this was recommended online so gave it a go. It's smooth and has interesting flavours — sort of nutty and fruity at the same time. The bubbles are quite fine and gentle which I know is meant to be a good thing but I personally like a bit more fizz. Good quality though, no complaints really.
Great with a cheese board
Picked this up from Waitrose for a Saturday night in. Really elegant — white peach on the nose and a nice lemony freshness that cuts through rich food. We had it with brie and crackers and it was a perfect match. The Chardonnay and Pinot blend works really well here.
This stuff is dangerously drinkable
Tried this at a restaurant last month and immediately ordered a case online. There's a hazelnut and pastry quality to it that just keeps you going back for another sip. My partner who normally sticks to prosecco couldn't stop drinking it either.
