Sophie Brennan VIPsAllowed - Nice but a bit steep
7/10

Good wine, no doubt about it — lovely berry flavours and a clean finish. But at nearly fifty quid I'd want something that blows me away, and this didn't quite get there. I'd buy it on offer though.

Dmitri Volkov VIPsAllowed - Decent enough
7/10

Picked this up because I liked the label honestly. It's a nice enough red — some plum, bit of vanilla, dry finish. Nothing wrong with it at all but I've had wines at £30 that I enjoyed just as much. One for a special occasion maybe.

I'm not great at describing wine but this one just works. It's medium bodied so it doesn't feel like a meal in itself, and there's fresh fruit flavours that keep it interesting. Opened it on a Tuesday for no reason and zero regrets.

Thomas Weber VIPsAllowed - Went down a treat at the BBQ

Brought this to a mate's BBQ and everyone was asking about it. The berry flavours are really obvious even if you're not a wine person, and it goes great with burgers and steaks. Smooth as anything with no harsh aftertaste.

Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass, then ended up buying a bottle to take home. There's a herby, slightly earthy quality to it that pairs brilliantly with a cheeseboard. The tannins are gentle enough that my partner liked it too and she normally sticks to white.

Had this at a friend's dinner party and had to ask what it was. Really elegant for a red, not heavy at all. There's a chocolate-y thing in the background that I really liked. Tracked a bottle down the next week.

8/10

The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and he wasn't wrong. Really nice plum and dark fruit on the nose, and it's got this silky thing going on that makes it dangerously easy to drink. Had it with a lamb roast and it was spot on.

Bought this for my wife's birthday dinner and we both absolutely loved it. The cherry and raspberry flavours really come through, and it's so smooth you barely notice you're drinking something at 13.5%. Will definitely be buying again.
