Barros 10 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV BarrosBit pricey for what it is
It's a pleasant enough port but at over £30 I expected something with a bit more depth. The toasted walnut notes are nice and it's smooth, but I've had £20 tawnies that weren't miles off this. Would wait for a sale.
Perfect after-dinner sipper
Bought this for Christmas and it was a massive hit. Really lovely caramel and nutty flavours, and it's smooth as anything despite being 20%. Went brilliantly with a cheese board. Will definitely be buying again.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday and I loved it. Really warm and toasty with that dried apricot sweetness that isn't over the top. Dangerously easy to drink for 20% ABV — had to pace myself!
Reliable and well made
Picked this up from Majestic on a deal. It's a well-made tawny — good dried fruit character, nice acidity keeping the sweetness in check. Nothing flashy but I keep coming back to it, which says something.
Solid tawny for the money
Nice enough port — got the dried fruit and walnut thing going on, and it's well balanced. Not the most exciting I've ever had but it does the job well. At £31 it's fair for a 10 year old tawny.
Good intro to tawny port
I'm not hugely into port but the guy at the wine shop recommended this and I'm glad he did. It's sweet but not sickly, and the nutty toasted flavour is really nice. Good one to try if you're curious about tawny.
Expected a bit more honestly
It's fine but I've had better tawnies for similar money. The caramel and apricot notes are there but it just didn't blow me away. Decent with some stilton after dinner though, so no complaints really.
Absolutely cracking port
Had this at a friend's dinner party and went straight out and bought a bottle. The walnut and caramel combo is gorgeous, and it finishes really cleanly. One of the best ports I've had under £35.
