Barbadillo Medium Amontillado
Red 14% ABV ABV BarbadilloDecent sherry, good for cooking too
Bought this for a dinner party to have with the starters. Guests seemed to enjoy it — nice balance of sweet and dry. I've been using the rest in sauces and it works brilliantly. Solid all-rounder at this price point.
Really nice sherry for the price
Picked this up from Waitrose on a whim because I've been trying to get into sherry lately. Really nutty and interesting, not too sweet but not bone dry either. At under fifteen quid it's a proper bargain for something this complex. Will definitely buy again.
Great intro to amontillado
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted to try something different. Love how nutty it is, almost like hazelnuts, and it's got a lovely clean finish. At £14.75 I think it's well priced for what you get. Goes surprisingly well with cheese and crackers.
Not really my thing
My partner ordered this at a tapas place and I had a glass. It's fine but the nutty flavour is quite strong and I found it a bit odd with food. Maybe I just don't get amontillado yet. Wouldn't rush to buy a bottle for home.
Pleasant but a bit safe
Had this after dinner instead of dessert and it hit the spot. Sweet enough to feel like a treat but not syrupy. Only gripe is it doesn't really linger — I wanted a bit more punch at the end. Nice enough but I've had more exciting sherries for similar money.
