Barbadillo Criadera Selection Amontillado En Rama
Red 14% ABV ABV BarbadilloNice but not sure it's for me
Got this as part of a mixed case and I'm still figuring out amontillado to be honest. It's clearly well made — there's a lot going on if you pay attention — but I think I just prefer something a bit fruitier. My partner loved it though so maybe it's a me problem.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my birthday dinner and it was the star of the evening. Really expressive on the nose, you can tell straight away this is quality. The way the flavours build as you sip is brilliant — keeps revealing new stuff. At 14% it's dangerously easy to drink too.
Really impressed with this
Picked this up after the guy at the wine shop recommended it when I said I wanted to try sherry properly. The balance is genuinely impressive — nothing fights for attention, it just all works together. At £19.50 it feels like a steal for something this layered. Already gone back for another bottle.
Great dinner party sherry
Served this before dinner with some almonds and jamon and everyone was asking about it. It's got this lovely clean finish that doesn't hang around too long. The en rama style means it's a bit more punchy than your average amontillado which I liked. Would buy again for entertaining.
Solid amontillado for the price
Been getting into sherry lately and this Barbadillo is a nice step up from the supermarket stuff. It's got a clean, dry finish that keeps you coming back for more. Good with some manchego and olives on a Friday night. Not life-changing but I'd definitely buy it again.
Bit pricey for what it is
Saw this recommended online and thought I'd give it a go. It's decent enough — well made, nice dry finish — but at nearly twenty quid I expected to be a bit more blown away. I've had Lustau amontillados for less that I enjoyed just as much. Not bad, just not sure about the value.
