Balthasar Ress Von Unserm Dry Riesling 2024
White 12% ABV ABV Balthasar RessReally impressed with this
Bought this for a dinner party and it was a hit. Really aromatic — you could smell it as soon as you poured, didn't need to do the whole swirling thing. Great balance between fruity and crisp, and at £21 it felt like good value for how complex it tasted.
Lovely summer wine
Picked this up after seeing it on a restaurant menu last month. It's light at 12% which I appreciate — you can have a couple of glasses without feeling wiped out. The finish is smooth and lingering, no harsh aftertaste. Nice one for the garden when it warms up.
Perfect with fish and chips honestly
Had this with takeaway fish and chips on a Friday night and it was brilliant. The crispness cuts right through anything greasy. Really clear flavours, nothing muddy about it. Already ordered another bottle.
Best Riesling I've had in ages
I'm a bit of a Riesling nerd and this genuinely surprised me. The aromatics hit you straight away and the depth on the palate is way beyond what you'd expect at this price. Proper structured wine that holds together beautifully. Bought three more bottles.
Nice but a bit pricey
It's a decent Riesling, don't get me wrong. Good acidity, pleasant enough finish. But at nearly £22 I expected a bit more wow factor. I've had German Rieslings at £12-15 that gave me more excitement.
Got this as a birthday present
My sister got me this for my birthday. I don't know loads about wine but I really enjoyed it — refreshing and easy to drink but still felt like something a bit special. The finish lingered in a nice way. Would pair well with a cheese board I reckon.
Solid everyday Riesling
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and I'm glad he did. It's well balanced, not too sweet, not too dry. Clean finish that makes you want another glass. Would buy again but probably not for special occasions.
