Balfour Springfield Chardonnay 2018
White 12% ABV ABV BalfourSolid choice for a midweek treat
Had this with roast chicken and it was a great match. Liked how the flavour kept developing as I worked through the glass. Not the boldest Chardonnay out there but everything is in the right place.
Pleasantly surprised
Saw this on a restaurant menu and thought I'd give it a go. Bright acidity, nice fruit, and a clean finish that doesn't hang around too long. Wouldn't have guessed it was English if I'd tasted it blind. Worth trying at least once.
Absolutely loved this
My wife got me this for my birthday and it might be one of my favourite whites this year. The nose is gorgeous — really expressive and clear. It's lighter than I expected but in a good way, super elegant. The finish just lingers perfectly.
Decent enough Chardonnay
Not bad at all but I've had better for less money. It's light for a Chardonnay which threw me a bit — I was expecting something richer. The finish is nice and clean though, no complaints there.
English wine that actually delivers
Bought this to support English wine and was genuinely surprised how good it is. The fruit and acidity are really well balanced and there's proper complexity going on. At 12% it's dangerously easy to drink on a sunny afternoon.
Really impressed with this
Picked this up at a local wine shop on the guy's recommendation and glad I did. Really lovely nose on it, kept going back for another sniff. Light but not watery, and it genuinely changed as it warmed up in the glass. Would buy again.
Nice but not cheap
Got this for a dinner party and it went down well with the fish course. Clean and crisp with good acidity. At nearly thirty quid though I'd want it to be a bit more special — it's good, just not sure it's that good.
Fine but I expected more
At £29 I was hoping for something a bit more memorable. It's well made and the acidity is spot on, but it felt a bit understated for my taste. Would prefer something with a bit more weight to it. Not bad though, just not my style.
