Ayala Brut Nature Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV AyalaTook me a glass to get into it
First sip I thought it was a bit austere, like it needed something. But halfway through the bottle it really opened up and I started appreciating how structured and clean it is. Not sure I'd choose it over a regular brut for casual drinking but it's definitely interesting if you like bone-dry fizz.
Proper zero-dosage without the harshness
Picked this up after reading about brut nature styles and honestly wasn't sure I'd like it — some zero-dosage champagnes just taste like lemon juice to me. But this is really well balanced, crisp acidity but there's actual fruit there too. At £38 it's not cheap but it's genuinely good champagne, not just a gimmick.
Nice but not sure it's worth £38
The guy at the wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something dry. It IS very dry and clean, and the flavours are interesting — more complex than your standard prosecco obviously. But for nearly forty quid I expected to be a bit more blown away. Good, not great.
Brilliant with oysters
Had this at a restaurant first and tracked it down online afterwards. It's so crisp and precise, none of that cloying sweetness you get with some champagnes. We had it with seafood and honestly it was perfect. The acidity just cuts right through.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got this for my birthday and we both loved it. Really clean and fresh, no sweetness at all which we prefer. The bubbles are fine and it's got this lovely long finish that keeps you going back for more. Would happily buy again.
My new go-to for dinner parties
Served this at a dinner party last weekend and everyone kept asking what it was. There's something about it that just smells really inviting — aromatic without being over the top. And at 12.5% you can actually have a couple of glasses without falling asleep on the sofa. Already ordered more.
Great champagne, surprisingly easy to drink
I'm relatively new to champagne beyond the supermarket stuff and this was a step up. No added sugar apparently which I liked the sound of. It's got real depth to it but doesn't taste heavy or complicated — just clean and refreshing with a finish that lingers nicely. Might grab another for Christmas.
