Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Brut Rose Champagne: A Toast-Worthy Cuvee
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Armand de BrignacThe real deal
Saw this on a menu at a bar in London and figured why not. Really glad I did. There's a richness to it, like stone fruit and biscuit, but it stays dry and crisp which I loved. The finish goes on forever. Definitely more than just a fancy label.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. The bubbles are super fine and you get this amazing baked apple and pastry thing going on. At £425 it's obviously not an everyday bottle but for a once-a-year treat it's absolutely stunning.
Birthday present I'll remember
My partner surprised me with this for my 40th and honestly I nearly cried. It's so smooth and generous, loads of fruit and cream but never heavy. The almond thing on the finish is gorgeous. We had it with some good cheese and just sat on the sofa grinning.
Proper celebration champagne
Cracked this open on New Year's Eve with about six of us. Everyone loved it, even my mate who normally just drinks beer. You can taste the Pinot Noir coming through, gives it that bit of weight. Went surprisingly well with the leftover curry we ended up eating at midnight.
Beautiful but hard to justify the price
Got to try this at a friend's wedding and it's genuinely lovely — creamy, toasty, with a nice citrus kick at the end. But I've had champagnes at a third of the price that come close. The gold bottle is a showstopper on the table though, I'll give it that.
Nice but I expected more at this price
The wine shop guy talked me into this over a Krug and I'm a bit on the fence. Don't get me wrong, it's really good — lovely mineral quality and the acidity keeps it fresh. But for £425 I wanted my mind blown and it was more like a solid 'oh that's nice'. Maybe my expectations were too high.
