Andre Jacquart Le Mesnil Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 2012
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Andre JacquartLe Mesnil delivers again
I've been slowly getting into grower champagnes this year and this Andre Jacquart is one of the best I've found. Blanc de blancs from Le Mesnil is always going to be precise and focused, and this one really is — the nose hits you straight away with no messing about. Drank it with some seared scallops on a Friday night and it was a proper treat.
Impressive but needs patience
The guy at my local wine shop talked me into this over a more well-known brand and I'm glad he did. It's serious champagne — not the kind of thing you just knock back without thinking. Took me a few sips to really get into it but once I did, the depth and layers were genuinely impressive. Would pair it with something simple like oysters or good cheese rather than a big meal.
Lovely but bit steep for me
Tried this at a tasting event and it's genuinely good champagne. Light on its feet despite having real structure to it, and the acidity is spot on. My only gripe is £145 is a lot when there are solid grower champagnes around for half that. I'd buy it again for something special but not as a regular thing.
Best champagne I've had in years
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately asked where they got it. The finish just goes on and on, really clean and elegant. For a 2012 vintage it's drinking beautifully right now. I've since ordered two bottles for myself — one to drink soon and one to forget about for a couple more years.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th wedding anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. Really complex stuff — you keep finding new things in the glass as it opens up. The bubbles are super fine and it's got this lovely crisp acidity that keeps you coming back for more. At £145 it's not an everyday buy but for a celebration it's absolutely perfect.
