Alwin & Stefanie Jurtschitsch Brut Nature 2017
Red 14% ABV ABV JurtschitschReally impressed with this one
Picked this up from a local wine shop on the guy's recommendation and glad I did. There's a real depth to it that unfolds the longer you let it sit in the glass. At £33 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for a special Friday night in.
Not really my thing
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and gave it a go. It's well made I'm sure but it felt a bit serious for what I was after — I just wanted something easy with my pasta. The acidity was quite sharp for my taste. Probably better suited to someone who likes that style.
A slow sipper
This isn't one you knock back, it genuinely gets better as it opens up. Bought it for my partner's birthday and we both noticed new things in it as the evening went on. Really well made, you can tell there's care behind it.
Loved it with lamb
We had this with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was brilliant. Firm structure and enough fruit to stand up to the meat without overpowering it. The finish is really clean too, no weird aftertaste. Would definitely buy again.
Nice but a bit steep
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was solid — good acidity, clean finish. But when I looked up the price afterwards, £33 feels like a lot for what you're getting. I've had Austrian wines at half the price that I enjoyed just as much.
Interesting Austrian red
Don't drink a lot of Austrian reds so wasn't sure what to expect but this was a pleasant surprise. Took about 20 mins in the glass before it really opened up. At 14% it's got some weight to it but doesn't feel boozy. Decent stuff.
