Alexandre Lamblot 'Intuition' Champagne 2019 Brut Nature: Prestige in Every Bubble
Champagne 12% ABV ABV Alexandre LamblotProper grown-up champagne
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something a bit different. It's made from Pinot Meunier which apparently isn't that common for a prestige champagne? Really liked the citrus and almond notes, and it's got this dry chalky finish that keeps you going back for more. Solid pick.
Lovely but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a friend's dinner party and it is genuinely delicious — brioche, lemon zest, really elegant stuff. But £83 for a bottle is steep and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £40 champagne. Would happily drink it again if someone else is buying though.
Interesting and well made
Picked this up after reading about the producer online. 100% Pinot Meunier, zero dosage, and it works really well — there's a nice tension between the creamy texture and the chalky acidity that keeps it fresh. Not a casual weeknight pop but great for when you want something with a bit more going on.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my wife's 40th and wow. The bubbles are so fine and creamy, and there's this amazing toasty bread thing going on that just makes it feel really special. At £83 it's not cheap but for a big occasion it's absolutely worth it. We finished the bottle way too fast.
This is what champagne should taste like
I don't know loads about wine but I know what I like, and this is probably the best champagne I've ever had. It's brut nature so no added sugar, and you can really taste it — everything is clean and crisp with these lovely toasty almond flavours. Served it with some nibbles before Christmas dinner and everyone was asking about it.
