Agrapart & Fils Venus Grand Cru 2017 Brut Nature Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Agrapart & FilsBest champagne I've ever had
My wife got me this for my 40th and I'm still thinking about it weeks later. The finish just goes on and on, and there's this incredible purity to the whole thing. I don't usually rate anything 10 but this earned it.
Bit too serious for me
I can tell this is quality champagne and it's clearly well made, but honestly I prefer something a bit more fun and fruity. This felt like it wanted me to sit down and concentrate on it rather than just enjoy it. My partner loved it though so maybe it's just me.
Special occasion champagne
Bought this for our anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. So crisp and clean with real depth to it — layers of flavour that kept revealing themselves. At £250 it's not an everyday bottle but for a big moment it's absolutely worth it.
Impressive but pricey
Tried this at a tasting event and it's genuinely excellent — really structured and complex, not like your typical fizz. But £250 is a lot of money for champagne when there are great grower options at half that. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but I'm glad I tried it.
The real deal
The guy at my local wine shop talked me into this and I'm grateful he did. Brut Nature so no added sugar, and you can really tell — it's bone dry with this driving acidity that keeps you coming back for more. Opened it with some oysters and it was perfect.
Stunning bottle from Agrapart
Been exploring grower champagnes for a couple of years now and this Venus is up there with the best I've tried. The acidity is spot on and there's a real sense of place in the glass. Saw it on a restaurant wine list first then tracked down a bottle for home. Clean, long finish that just lingers beautifully.
Really good but needs time to open up
Don't just pop this and pour it straight away. Gave it about 20 minutes in the glass and it completely transformed — the aromas went from shy to really expressive and well-defined. Grand Cru fruit is no joke. A bit steep price-wise for my budget though.
