AA Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2024
White 12% ABV ABV AA BadenhorstReally lovely summer white
Picked this up after the guy in the wine shop recommended it. Really nice stone fruit flavours and it's so easy to drink — had most of the bottle before I realised. At 12% you can have a couple of glasses without writing off your evening. Will definitely buy again.
Great with fish and chips honestly
Not even joking, we had this with takeaway fish and chips on a Friday night and the acidity cuts right through. It's got a bit of a waxy richness to it which I liked. Good clean finish too, no weird aftertaste. Would happily grab another bottle.
Nice but not amazing
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down fine with everyone, but I wasn't blown away personally. It's pleasant enough — clean, fruity, easy drinking. Just felt like there are similar wines out there for a few quid less.
Absolutely loved this
Birthday present from my sister who knows I like white wine. This is gorgeous — really floral on the nose and then all this stone fruit and pear when you taste it. Light and refreshing at 12% but doesn't taste watery at all. One of the best Chenin Blancs I've had at this price point, genuinely impressed.
Solid Chenin for the price
I've been getting into South African whites lately and this is a good one. Nice apple and pear flavours, crisp acidity, does what you want a Chenin Blanc to do. £16.75 feels about right — not a bargain but not overpriced either.
My new go-to white
Saw this on a restaurant menu a few weeks ago and loved it so much I tracked down a bottle to have at home. There's this lovely pear and apple thing going on and it's light enough to drink on its own but interesting enough that you keep noticing new stuff. Had it with some grilled chicken and it was perfect.
